Popular AI tool writes good texts in an instant: is our work redundant?

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) is an interesting development in the communications industry. AI tools use advanced algorithms to write texts based on given information. This means that AI tools are able to write comparable texts that are suitable for the context based on a number of specified input texts.

One of the advantages of AI tools is that they can process and process large amounts of information in a short time. These machines can, for example, be used to quickly write a press release or a product description. AI tools are also designed to understand language and style, making the resulting texts sound more professional and convincing.

This technology has a huge impact on the field of communications. AI tools can help companies write content that is consistent and that suits their target group. Using AI also allows companies to make better use of their time by focusing on other aspects of their communications.

Although AI tools are not yet at the point where they can be used by everyone, these technologies have already come quite a long way. AI offers enormous potential for companies to improve their communication processes.

Perhaps you already guessed it, the above text was not written by someone from Issuemakers, but by an AI tool that was given the following assignment:Write a blog in Dutch about the interesting development of AI writing machines and how this affects the field of communication.” After we completed this task (here) it only took a minute for the text to be ready. The tool was even out of service for a while because so many people started experimenting.

The output is not (yet) 100% but is getting better and better, as Alexander Klöpping also showed in his tweet about an opinion article created by AI. Some reactions on Twitter: “I can't believe this”, “mind blowing” and “looks promising”. There was also the comment that the style still needs to be tinkered with.

Interesting: as a writer you can use AI to design an article, a newsletter, press release or an opinion piece. It can save a lot of search and analysis work. Another AI development that we follow is the generation of AI photos based on keywords (text to image). Some tools are DALL-E, Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. How often does it happen that a database with stock photos is nedoes not contain the image you are looking for to reinforce a story. A photo via AI is also much more unique.

One thing: there is still a lot of uncertainty about legal aspects, given that AI tools still use copyrighted photos as input. And can you just post an AI photo on your website, intranet or social media?

In other words; AI developments are important to keep an eye on and experiment with. Does it take over our work? No, but it can certainly change things. In addition to undoubtedly risks, new technology offers many opportunities, just like with other major developments and innovations we have experienced in recent years. We are curious how many communications advisors, journalists, marketers or writers are already working with AI. What opportunities do you see? Or do you think it's still a bit too early?
