Podcast tips from our own IM'ers!
Last Tuesday's press conference once again brought us face to face with the facts – drinks, dinners and 'fun shopping' are not an option in the near future. Have you checked off spring cleaning early this year due to lack of better use of time and therefore have some extra time on your hands? We got you! Issue makers Pieter, Bob, Bart, Bas and Fleur recommend their favorite podcast to you. Put on your headphones and listen to yourself through the – hopefully – last part of the lock down to!
Peter about Talking Sopranos: “Each episode of this legendary TV series is brilliantly dissected. New Jersey mafia, Hollywood and endless tall tales.”
In Talking Sopranos, Sopranos actors Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa – Pieter: “unbelievable, but true, these are their real names” – discuss the TV series that shows the life of a mafia family. The actors discuss the series episode by episode and exchange anecdotes. The men also interview other actors from the cast, writers of the series and special guests. It touches on everything surrounding the series.

Bob about Piece of Red Meat: “In Stuk Rood Vlees, political scientists, among others, speak about all kinds of current political themes. The perfect way - in addition to following the news - to delve into the results of the elections and the cabinet formation.”
Armen Hakhverdian – political scientist at the University of Amsterdam – discusses various political topics in the Stuk Rood Vlees podcast. Hakhverdian interviews other scientists or journalists about current events, but with a scientific lens. Political science research is manageable in this way.

Bart about RADICAL: “ According to Mudde, his podcast is about 'fascists, punks & ultras,' but much more is discussed in RADIKAL. As a listener you learn how radical ideas spread in a society through sports, music and politics. As a football fan, political junkie and music lover, RADIKAL is right in my sweet spot of interests.”
RADIKAL is presented by Cas Mudde, who combines his three passions of politics, music and sports in the podcast. Each episode starts with three set questions: Cas asks the guests – including athletes, activists, journalists and musicians – what the first sports team they supported was and what their favorite political book and song is.
–
Bass left The Rudi & Freddie Show: “Rutger and Jesse – often together with interesting guests – highlight different perspectives on social, political and economic issues.”
In this podcast, Rutger Bregman and Jesse Frederik look at all kinds of social, political and economic issues. For example, they devoted several episodes to the benefits affair - presenter Jesse wrote a book about this in which he tries to expose the underlying systematic errors of this story - and they discussed current events surrounding the elections.
–
Fleur over The Psychologist Podcast: “Concentration problems when working from home, loneliness due to the lock-down and the use of humor to alleviate the entire situation - the Podcast Psychologist discusses these and more psychological themes and offers practical tips.”
