The corona version of the Issue Calendar

One of our products that communications colleagues, media and other interested parties use every year is the Issue Calendar; a handy overview of all national and international days on which important issues are discussed, such as press freedom day or the international day of the Red Cross.

The Issue Calendar is a useful overview because it provides insight into when which organization requires attention for a socially relevant issue. International organizations such as the United Nations are often the driving force behind these days or national organizations. And without these days, attention to certain social themes might remain underexposed.

The corona crisis and the associated measures also have consequences for our Issue Calendar. Everyone knows that King's Day was transformed into a digital Housing Day a few weeks ago, with Fokke & Sukke having the idea to send rope and gingerbread to Huis ten Bosch Palace this year. This year's national commemoration of death was without an audience and perhaps therefore even more impressive than previous years. And our national bike to work day, which was planned for next Thursday, May 14, has been postponed to September 24. And let's hope that we can cycle to work again in a more relaxed way and see colleagues in person.

During a number of days on the Issue Calendar, it is not only about an important theme, but there is also a collection linked to it. And that may have escaped our attention in all the hectic surrounding the corona measures. After all, collectors at the door are still out of the question for the time being. And in May alone there are three collections on the Issue Calendar - for the Long Fund from May 11 to 15 - and no matter how unpleasant, this is more necessary than ever as a result of the corona crisis. Later this month there will be another digital collection for the Prince Bernhard Fund and one for the national Children's Aid Fund. Let's hope it's a one-off. Nevertheless, the time may be ripe for a corona version of the Issue Calendar
