The Amsterdam MBO agenda
The Issuemakers work for the Municipality of Amsterdam in the context of The Amsterdam MBO agenda. Through this agenda, the Municipality of Amsterdam facilitates innovative educational projects and teacher grants that make Amsterdam's vocational education future-proof.
The Issuemakers not only provides advice on the media strategy, but it also plays an important role in its implementation. This means that De Issuemakers looks for the great stories that Amsterdam MBO has to offer and identifies opportunities to get those stories into the media. With this media attention we show that MBO is the engine of the city of Amsterdam.
So portrayed Het Parool Amsterdam MBO students doing internships on the front lines of the corona crisis. Following the article, members of the House of Representatives called on Twitter to have respect for the MBO students who take their responsibility. In response, Amsterdam Councilor Simone Kukenheim calls MBO graduates the driving force of the city and hopes that we can maintain the appreciation for MBO graduates after this period: 'You now see how MBO-trained professionals, such as childcare workers, nurses, and caregivers are needed. We now see how meaningful work they do and I hope this will help get these professions back on the map.'
Another example is setting up a meeting where the Amsterdam MBO presented initiatives that should improve the connection between education and the labor market. In addition to bringing (educational) administrators, students and the business community into contact, the event also has a number of positive aspects media reporting led. In addition, the event was a reason for MBO Council chairman Ton Heerts to organize a opinion article to be published in Trouw in which he called for following the good example of the Amsterdam MBO agenda.
