Tech for efficient and impactful development cooperation
In the jungle of development aid, it often remains unclear which projects have helped and which have not. In 2014, the development organization Triggerise was asked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explore how technology and data can be used to set up a more efficient and impactful approach for charities. Triggerise works with a digital platform that gives young women in Africa and India, among others, insight into all the health choices available, are linked to care providers and are encouraged to maintain these choices through behavioral nudges and rewards. By collecting real-time data, Triggerise can give its donors direct insight into the results and exactly what their money is used for. This offers transparency and trust. To date, they have reached more than 1 million young women.
Issuemakers supported Triggerise in the field of PR and developed a media strategy to make Triggerise's story and working methods better known. Hans Nauta from Trouw spoke about Triggerise with COO Richard Matikanya and Marco Gerritsen, former tropical doctor and now policy officer at the Dutch embassy in Ethiopia. The result is one nice article which could be read in Trouw's Saturday edition.
