Elsevier
Elsevier is best known to the public as one of the largest publishers of scientific articles. However, over the past decade the company has invested heavily in a successful transition into an authority in the field of information analytics and open science. Elsevier contributes to the development of science and society in an innovative way. Since the spring of 2018, De Issuemakers has been Elsevier's PR agency in the Netherlands, where the global head office is also located in Amsterdam.
Our activities include advice on Elsevier's press strategy in the Netherlands, but also media monitoring, issue management advice, development of press materials and a reactive and proactive press approach.
The efforts of De Issuemakers have resulted in several PR successes, including the very positive reporting in national news media surrounding the opening of the TechHub by Prime Minister Mark Rutte at Elsevier's headquarters, the launch of the Elsevier AI Lab in collaboration with the VU, UvA and the Amsterdam Data Science network and Elsevier's groundbreaking report about artificial intelligence. This report examines how AI has grown as a field within science, which countries and individual universities are excelling, and how industry-academic collaborations have developed in recent years. In addition, there was a lot of media attention in 2018 for the progressive diversity programs and initiatives from Elsevier. Finally, contacts have been made recently and good relationships have been established between Elsevier and journalists, which better positions Elsevier to demonstrate its contribution to the Dutch knowledge economy.
De Issuemakers collaborates extensively internationally with strategic communications consultancy APCO Worldwide. On behalf of the Netherlands, we are part of the global network of APCO agencies that supervises and carries out PR activities for Elsevier. Together with local teams in England, Germany, the United States, China and Japan, we help to translate Elsevier's vision on science, technology and health into tailor-made communication messages.
