ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOR IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE OF 2019

More than 4 out of 10 Dutch people think 'Antisocial behavior and the lack of tolerance' the most important social issue of 2019. Followed in second and third place by 'Climate change/CO2' (38%) and 'Teacher shortage' (29%). This is evident from research into the issues that Dutch people found most important in 2019. This survey was conducted by research agency Kantar Public and communications consultancy De Issuemakers and is conducted annually at the end of the year.
Manuel Kaal (Kantar Public): “It is understandable that the issue of antisocial behavior is experienced as a problem by many Dutch people. It has to do with the feeling of coarsening in society. This is a feeling that is especially prevalent among people over 70 (59%). Young people (18 to 34 year olds) mentioned antisocial behavior less (28%). They are more concerned about climate change (38%), a topic that has received a lot of attention in the past year. Climate change is also top priority among highly educated people (52%).” Mayke van Keep (De Issue makers): “Antisocial behavior has mainly been discussed subcutaneously in recent times and has been put on the agenda by SIRE with the #Doeslief campaign. It's striking that it's so alive.”
